An author (I forget who) was asked during an interview if he was concerned about whatever damage that bad film adaptations of his books would do to them. He responded by pointing to his shelf and saying that the books were still there, unharmed. While the books themselves might be as good as ever, there’s the potential damage their reputation might suffer. The other day, I was thinking about...
Birthday Rings
It’s my birthday today! It got off to a pretty unfortunate start when I got the dreaded Three Red Rings of Death on my Xbox 360. The first two times I started it up, it froze on my dashboard. That actually happened once last night as well. I wonder if the problems I was having with Fallout 3, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the freezing issues on Gears of War 2 was the result of my 360 being...
Chinese Democracy
So after sitting on Guns ‘N Roses’ Chinese Democracy for several months, I finally listened to it. Why did I take so long. Well, considering it’s been 17 years since Use Your Illusion and it’s supposed to have been coming out “any day now” for about 8 years, plus the ridiculous amount of hype it’s gotten, there was a certain apprehension of my part. Oh...
As 2009 approaches...
Usually, I look forward to the start of a new year. It usually feels like a fresh beginning offering renewed hope. This year, it feels different. For the first time, I’m indifferent. Probably because of all the shit that happened over the last few months. My hopes for 2009: That I find a new job that I like, stop being broke, meet some new people and that things don’t suck as bad as...
Okay, now I'm mad!
To the son of a bitch who hacked my Facebook account and sent spam to everyone on my friends list, I will find you and make you regret the day you were born!
Changing Gears
Tumblr wasn’t the only piece of technology giving me a headache Christmas Day. Yesterday, when I tried to play my newly received copy of Gears of War 2, I found out I had a defective copy. I got three disc read errors and the times it actually managed to play, it froze after five minutes. Merry Christmas! Well, it just meant another day of playing more Persona 4. So I went to Target today...
Best review of "The Spirit"
This comes from the great Peter David.
Comments fixed!
Not only did I get the comments system worked out, but all my previous comments have been restored!
I’m a happy guy!
Technical Difficulties
Well, I had soime technical problems with my Tumblr site. The good news is I got them resolved. The bad news is that all my comments seem to have been sent to oblivion.
[Grumble!]
Merry Christmas!
Just wishing a Merry Christmas to everyone out there! I’m now the proud owner of Gears of War 2 and a Doctor Who: The Brain of Morbius DVD! Hope you’re all having a good day as well!
A Very Death Note Christmas
Holidays and Birthdays
I did all my Christmas shopping today. That’s a load off my back. While I was at Best Buy, I decided to pick up to Blu-Ray’s for myself: Black Hawk Down and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Nothing sets the mood for the Holiday Season like watching a gritty war movie and a 70’s horror film in high def. They also had Guitar Hero: World Tour on display. I nailed “Love Removal...
More TV Christmas Cliches
There’s an article at IGN about a list of cliches shows trudge out for their obligatory Christmas specials. Overall, it’s a pretty good list. I’m especially sick of the remakes of A Christmas Carol and It’s A Wonderful Life. Of all the IAWL remakes, I think the only time I saw it done even remotely well was in an episode of Married With Children. But there are other tired...
Into Oblivion
Recently, I’ve been playing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and was really getting into it. Today, I popped it in and the game kept freezing every time I was loading my saved game. I attempted this five times and got the same result. Between this and the uber-glitchy Fallout 3, I’ve vowed never to but another Bethesda game ever again. At least, not until they actually get a QA department.
Video Game Meme
1) What was your FIRST video game console? Atari 2600. Not that I’m dating myself… 2) Name a few games you played on said console. Combat, Adventure, Yar’s Revenge, Pitfall, Defender, Berzerk Combat came with the console. My brother and I played it for hours, being fascinated by what, is retrospect, is probably one of the dullest game ever made. Could those tanks have moved any...
(Almost) A year ago
Just for the hell of it, I decided to go through my blog entries over the month of last January to see where I was at the beginning of the year. There were some funny YouTube videos (A few of which are sadly no longer around), how I lived across the street from the Boston Church of Scientology and a bunch of crappy sports anthems. One thing that stood out were posts about some rough days I had at...
A true all-star cast!
It’s been fixed now, but for awhile, the Wikipedia entry on the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie had this to say about a potential sequel: A sequel to Alvin and the Chipmunks (introducing the Chipettes) was confirmed. It is set to be released on Christmas Day 2009 and is named Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: The Squeakuel.[1] On July 28, it was confirmed that Matt Stow will return as Dave Seville...
Snowfallus Gigantus
We had a big-ass snowstorm today. Perfect day to stay in and listen to some Christmas music while watching the snow fall from the window. Frank Sinatra and a snowy holiday season night are a great combination. It’s also nice to watch some of my newly acquired Cinematic Titanic DVD’s. Steve’s gonna be home tomorrow. My Christmas money arrived today. Nice to actually have some...
So what's scarier?
The fact that this album exists or that it has an average of four and a half star reviews on Amazon?
The real King of the Internet
Wait...What?!?
For a moment, I thought Warren Ellis went soft.
Holiday blues
I just realized that I now have 9 can’t-afford-to-shop days until Christmas. How time flies by! Being unemployed and broke during the Holidays sucks!
This has officially become my new desktop!

Playstation@Home: If you lived here, you'd be...
Last night, I decided to fire up the Playstation 3 and check out Sony’s much-hyped Playstation@Home social networking thingamajigger. It started out promising enough. I created an avatar using a customization system considerably deeper than Microsoft’s New Xbox Experience. I was given a virtual home located in a sunny, tropical environment with a great view of the ocean. I thought this...

Turn the Page
RIP, Bettie Page. In this age of starlets who resemble 12 year old boys with breast implants, we sure could use some more curvy women like you.
I was not trying to be shocking, or to be a pioneer. I wasn’t trying to...

Snow job
We had snow for the first time all winter last night. There’s something about a snowfall at night that I just find endlessly charming. Especially if you have the right music playing. Last night was the first time I started breaking out the Christmas songs. It’s been really hard to get into the Christmas spirit this year, given that I’m unemployed, broke and living at home. Plus...
"Because you were home."
I watched The Strangers tonight. Much better than I was expecting. A good horror movie that relies more on suspense than gorn. Went comic shopping today, taking advantage of a sale they were having. In fact, it occurred to me I haven’t posted my stash from the last two weeks. So here what I got over the past three weeks: Runaways #3 & #4 Hack/Slash #16, #17 & #18 Buffy #19 Batman:...
Magazine thoughts.
The cover of the latest issue of Time magazine has the words “How To Fix American Schools” printed on the center-left hand side. The latest issue of Newsweek has the words ”How To Fix the World” printed on the center-left hand side. Both are in the exact same font. Go figure. Why does Oprah have to be on the cover of every issue of O? I know it’s her magazine, but...
